Today I woke and I felt like church has been ordinary for me. I mean, I have things that am earnestly seeking God's favor in and I keep asking how long, are you there or would you just speak?

I needed a one on one encounter with God. Without the music playing, without the congregation around me, without me feeling smart about worship, without my christian outfit. For a good hr, I asked God for a renewal, an encounter with Him. Twenty minutes into the meditation I almost told myself Dude, u r kidding yourself! get up and fix breakfast. But then, a word came into my mind..

Jeremiah 33:3 says, Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.

I have never thought of the mightiness of that verse like I did this morning. the verse before says that This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it - the Lord is his name.

The deepness of this word just humbled me to praying for forgiveness to God. For I have doubted some things in my life if they are truly going to work having tried so many times before. I know when I stand before men, I declare the Lord's power to do all that we ask in prayers but my prayers sometimes end with a big BUT or WHAT IF or I NEED A PLAN B JUST INCASE.

Story of your life, right? You go through situations in your life and you are like 'God, why me?' You try out something u are passionate about but after the third failure u change your dream and say that it didn't go well. I remember when I was a kid, I had just topped my class with the highest mean grade. When I went home, my dad gave me a pat on the back saying 'Son am proud of you'. Then as if to cancel the praise, "I need you to add 50marks more next term."

I asked him a few years later why he did put me under pressure all the time. After laughing he told me, "Son, there is no point of aiming at a target if you know you have hit it a thousand times before". What if you hit lower this time?

And perhaps we are all like that. We always try out something once, twice, thrice and when it doesn't work we resolve to aiming at what we are used to hitting jackpot. We approach life to careful not to be burnt, not to be hurt, building houses in our familiar 'hoods' called comfort zone. All along God has put dreams in us to prosper us and not to fail us. Plans to go places, to have all we dream of and more. Promises to make us great, to defeat our 'enemies' to always walk on before us, to watch our comin in and going out, to always bless the work of our hands, to do much more things in our lives.

But. Oh yea there is a but. We have have to go through the refiners fires. For gold to gets its worth it has to be refined. And aren't you more than gold or silver? God doesn't take us through hardships if he doesn't have a plan out. Like a famous televangelist says, God will not tell you, "sorry, I didn't see this coming". Hebrews 12 talks of the reason we go through all that.

Friend, let me encourage you while I encourage myself, that God is the author and perfector of your life. He says come to me and I will show you great things, things you have not even thought of leave alone seeing them. All you gotta do is to obey. Do not throw that confidence that you got that indeed you serve a mighty and living God. Remember the parable of the persistent widow? (Luke 18:1-8). God says he will bring justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night. You have sown in many tears, you have believed when there was no reason to, God will rewards with a double portion.

Your hope is no hope if you can see the things you are hoping for. Your faith is a reward for this hope. Hold on unswervingly to the hope you profess, for he who promised is faithful. He has got your best if you keep on believing. As long as you have an extra day to see, keep thanking him for the things he has done and those that he has in store for you. When you feeling low and discouraged, like David, have a heart of Joy and be encouraged in His Mightiness. The Lord your God shall never abandon you.

If you are encouraged by songs like I am, I will leave you with the words of my theme song today (on the group's wall). Its the song by Selah, You raise me up. Be blessed my brother, be blessed my Sister. May the Lord bless you and keep you. May He restore all that you lost, your health, your relationships, your joy, and your salvation. Even as you wait upon him, remember that though it lingers wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. (Habakuk 2:3b)

I work across from the Lawnswood cemetery in Lawnswood, Leeds in the UK. On lunchtimes I tend to walk the many pathways of the cemetery as it is a quiet place to think. I cam across the grave of Dr Rossvally quite by chance as I was taken by the inscription stating he was 'a surgeon in the American army'. I have since googled his name and have come across this site and learnt a little more about him. I thought you may like to know I often visit Dr Rossvallys grave, say 'hello' and stand awhile in reflection. Thank you for filling in a few of the blanks about this remarkable man for me.

Miss Vivian's visit to my First Grade class at Cornerstone Prep. was awesome! It was so fun to hear the kids' anticipation. They couldn't wait to meet a real author. The children loved when Miss Vivian began telling the children about the illustrations and how they related to her personal life. The children connected well with learning that they can write stories about God and their own lives. As a teacher, I appreciated how gentle and kind she was to my class of students who I care about deeply. I felt like she saw my students like the treasures that they are. I hope she can come back next year to speak to my new treasures!
